About the Cover Artist – Barbara Kohl
B
arbara Kohl is a lifelong artist
whose work draws on personal
history, Jewish identity, and
a deep commitment to community.
Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
she finds ongoing inspiration in
family, faith, and tradition.
Her paintings have been exhibited
widely, including at the Israel Museum
in Jerusalem and in numerous shows
across Milwaukee, Chicago, and
New York. A career highlight came
when her work was selected by the
U.S. State Department for display
in the American Embassy in Prague
during the Obama administration.
Barbara’s art is deeply rooted in decades
of Torah study and a strong commitment
to Jewish life and Israel. She describes
herself first as a mother, a Jewish
woman, a Zionist, and a proud member
of Milwaukee’s Jewish community.
Affectionately known as Savta—Hebrew
for grandmother—Barbara embraces
family as central to her identity and art.
