Tikkun Ha-Ir translates from Hebrew as Repair the City.
Our mission is to build a more just Milwaukee through
study, action, and civic engagement. Our programming
focuses on food justice, relief efforts, voter engagement,
and social justice education, all through a Jewish lens. We
provide volunteer opportunities year-round, and partner with
dozens of Jewish, secular, and interfaith Milwaukee organizations to fight poverty and hunger in our most vulnerable
communities. Our flagship program, Veggie Chop Shop,
provides hundreds of meals to shelters and individuals from
June-October every year utilizing fresh, gleaned produce
from farms and farmer’s markets. To learn more about our

helps teens and adults shatter the stigmas surrounding mental-health challenges and create an atmosphere
of inclusion in their communities. UMatter programs

Our emphasis is on strategies of gathering information
about those long gone, finding where we come from and
recording this information.
WJGS promotes research and educates members
about collection and preservation of records and
provides assistance with research. It maintains a collection of genealogical materials at the Jewish Museum
Milwaukee. Beginner assistance is available for those
who have developed an interest in family research,
and family reunion support is also available.
